Brooke & Emily:
Emily and Brooke love to be outside. Between the two of them, they maintain just a few hobbies: cross-country and downhill skiing, mountain biking, canoe tripping, backpacking, whitewater kayaking and canoeing, rock climbing, and agate picking, just to name a few.
Together, Emily and Brooke decided to start the Great Lakes Gear Exchange because they want to try to help eliminate barriers that anyone might have to getting outside.
By offering cheaper access to gear and general knowledge on all sorts of activities, they hope everyone in our community can take advantage of what the natural world around us has to offer. (And they care about the natural world so they hope to enact some Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, principles in the process).
OUR ROCKING STAFF
Megan spent 15 years as a manufacturer's rep in the outdoor industry for many brands that you can find in our shop! She has background in environmental and outdoor education and loves to help people get outside. In her free-time, she coaches competitive dragon boating both locally and internationally. She is passionate about many, many things but her top three are: life on the water, her best fur friend Gibbs the Bernese and tacos.
Lily grew up along the North Shore in the small town of Finland, MN but is lucky to call Arvika, Sweden as her second home and Duluth her current home. Her passions include coffee, traveling, colorful clothing, chocolate, photography, dancing to my favorite local bands (s/o to Jacob Mahon and the Salty Dogs), and spending quality time supporting Sir Ben's with loved ones. Her dream is to become an elementary teacher or a rock star ballerina... which ever comes first.
Prescott grew up down in the Twin Cities, but headed to the hills as quick as he could. Most of his most fond memories are of tripping and guiding in our wonderful BWCA and Quetico wilderness, but he has also ventured farther afield to the mountains of Alaska, rivers of northern Canada, treks in SE Asia and New Zealand, and points in-between. However, what really gets him jazzed is sharing these experiences and getting people "out there" to experience the wonder of the wilderness.
Danielle, more commonly known as "D", has spent her entire life outside. Exploring, learning, and teaching in the natural world is all she has wanted and continues to do. These days she can be found biking and skijoring with her retired sled dog, paddling any and all flatwater, coaching power wheelchair soccer and adaptive skiing, scuba diving, hittin' the slopes and trails, and enjoying time with friends and family.
