Great Lakes Gear Exchange Team Member

The Great Lakes Gear Exchange is hiring multiple team members. We are looking for folks who are passionate about sustainability and getting people outside. As a new business we are looking for folks with retail skills who are willing and interested to help grow and develop our space, brand, and vision. People who are genuinely jazzed to talk all day long about gear, the amazing outdoor opportunities beyond the shop walls, and who are excited to meet customers where they are at in their outdoor gear/skills journey should apply. Preferred experience includes retail work and outdoor education (paid or unpaid).

Job Details:

Work all aspects of the retail side of the Great Lakes Gear Exchange including, but not limited to:

  • Running the cash register

  • Communicating consignment policy to consignors

  • Sorting & choosing what items to consign

  • Pricing items

  • Entering items into the consignor software

  • Tagging and placing items on the floor

  • Arranging floor displays as needed

  • Assisting customers to find what they need, answer questions about consignment and gear for a plethora of outdoor pursuits (ie, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, surfing, hiking, and more)

  • General cleaning of the store

  • Opening and closing the shop

As we are a new, just forming team there will be many opportunities to flex skills outside the basic day-to-day retail side of the job. These could include online marketing, website design, event management, space design, and more. We want to encourage and utilize the fullest potential of our staff as they are interested.

Part Time and Full Time positions available. 16-40 hours a week available.

$11.00-12.50 per hour start.

Awesome discounts on gear!
